About the project
The Blakes Holiday Card was an interactive, award-winning holiday experience created for Blakes to send to their clients as a seasonal greeting. The card invited users to explore a peaceful snowy forest, encountering storybook-like 2D animated animals as they received a line-by-line holiday message. The scene progressed from daylight to a starlit night with the aurora borealis, ending at a cozy cabin that beckoned the user inside. The project won 2 awards: the 2019 AVA Digital Award – Gold Web-Based Production and the 2019 DOT COMM Award – Gold.

The Card
The project utilized Three.js to create an immersive 3D landscape, allowing users to look around while navigating through the snow-covered forest. The animals encountered on the journey were animated using 2D texture animations, balancing high visual quality with optimized performance across devices. The dynamic transition of the sky from day to night, complete with an aurora borealis, added a magical layer to the user experience.
